WWE legend Randy Orton has revealed he had to pay $20,000 to have his loved ones at ringside for WrestleMania 37.

The Apex Predator defeated ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt in a divisive opening match on the second night of the extravaganza, which took place in front of just over 25,000 fans at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

With WWE welcoming a live crowd for the first time in over a year, there had been reports the company wouldn’t be handing out freebies to talent, which seemed to include even its biggest superstars.

He tweeted: ‘WM. Historic. One of a kind, only here at #wwe you can see the spectacle! Also, I was charged 20 thousand dollars for my family (wife and 5 kids) to watch dad rassle fight a demon.

Fans couldn’t believe the sure fire future Hall of Famer had to pay for his own tickets, although you’d imagine the company – or the stadium – were keen to make the most of having paying customers back in a venue after so long.

One Twitter follower replied: ‘WWE charged Randy Orton’s family to attend? That may be more surprising than his win last night’.

And another tweeted: ‘When someone on the card still has to pay for tickets Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeez (sic)’

Either way, Orton’s family still got a great seat for a real spectacle, with the former world champion battling The Fiend in a theatrical affair which left fans disappointed with the conclusion.

Despite epic entrances – including Alexa Bliss bringing Wyatt’s alter ego back from hell in a giant jack in a box – definitely delivering, and the match itself keeping everyone entertaining, the ending wasn’t on the same level.

The audience was heard chanting ‘holy s**t’ as the lights dropped and Bliss was seen sat on the box with a black liquid pouring from her head.

However, the chants quickly turned to a chorus of boos when this proved a distraction, letting Orton in with an RKO to pick up the upset.

The segment ended with The Fiend and Alexa staring at each other, but there was no explanation offered as they both disappeared – so hopefully some of the gaps are filled in tonight on Raw.
