West Ham takes final decision on Lingard contract

Sky Sports have reported being told by a senior source at West Ham that the club will do ‘whatever it takes’ to turn the loan of Jesse Lingard from Manchester United into a permanent deal this summer.

Having completely fallen out of the plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford, Lingard joined the Hammers in January for the second half of the season. Since then, the forward has been on exceptional form, scoring six goals in eight appearances, which is more than he had scored for United in the previous 18 moths, and adding four assists to his name as well.

The loan agreement between the two clubs does not include an option to buy, which means West Ham will have to go to the table with United again to arrange a transfer fee to get their wish, but being impressed by the performances of the 28-year-old England international, they will obviously try to make it happen.
