Bayern Munich play host to Paris Saint Germain  tonight at 7pm as they look to defend their Champions League crown.

These two sides meet once again as last season’s Champions League finalists get set to battle it out for a place in the last eight of the competition. PSG will be out for revenge following their crushing 1-0 defeat in Lisbon last summer which saw Bayern Munich crown champions of Europe for the fifth time.

The Bundesliga leaders enter the game on the back of an impressive 1-0 victory against their nearest rivals, Rb Leipzig, however, they enter the game against PSG without their star man, Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been ruled out of action for around a month after suffering a knee injury whilst on international duty in Poland’s World Cup Qualifiers.

In contrast to Munich’s devastating injury news, Mauricio Pochettino has been boosted by the return of Neymar after his issues with an adductor injury. However, his return to the starting XI did not quite go to the plan of his manager with the Brazilian getting himself sent off in their 1-0 defeat to league leaders Lille.

Bayern Munich have not been held to not scoring in a game since August 2019 in a 2-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund. Without their main man they showed on the weekend they are capable of getting over the line, but PSG have shown in the last round of games they are capable of upsetting some of Europe’s finest

Mbappe stole the headlines in the emphatic 4-1 victory at the Nou Camp after scoring a hat-trick. However, in the Champions League final last summer the youngster missed a golden opportunity which you would expect any player to slot home. With 20 goals already in Ligue 1 and six in this season’s Champions League, the French wonderkid will be out for revenge on Wednesday night.

In their last three games against each other PSG have failed to win any. The one which will play in their memory is last season’s Champions League final defeat which they will be hoping to put behind them on Wednesday as they seek their revenge.
