UFC superstar Conor McGregor has jumped into the uncertainty at Old Trafford by offering to ‘buy’ Manchester United – the club he has supported since he was a youngster
UFC superstar Conor McGregor is ready to ‘buy’ Manchester United amid the ongoing uncertainty at Old Trafford, with Ed Woodward to depart amid European Super League confusion.

The Irish MMA hero, has made his support for the Red Devils no secret in the past, he was active on social media as the club looked to have pulled out of the controversial breakaway league.
In addition, reports claim that executive vice-chairman Woodward was planning to leave the club at the end of the season – but has now brought that forward.
Joking with his Twitter followers, McGregor pledged to use his multi-million pound fortune to buy the club – getting a postive reaction online.

He wrote: “Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying Manchester United! What do you think?”

That came after United chief Woodward, who also left his role at UEFA earlier this week, and had planned to step down from his role at Old Trafford in the summer – decided to move on early.
McGregor said of his love for the club back in January: “I was more a player than a watcher back then, but Manchester United was my team.
“It was only the other day I came across an old picture of myself wearing that infamous grey United jersey, which I bought with my [First Holy] Communion money at eight years of age.
“I see my son when I look at that photo. I’d love to know where it is now. A truly ‘Notorious’ jersey!

“I was attracted to the success and winning mentality of the club and people surrounded by United. Irish legends like Denis Irwin and Roy Keane were dedicated to their craft and had that winning mentality.
“Roy Keane was one of the best midfielders European football has ever seen. Opponents would be mentally beaten before they’d even stepped on to the pitch to face him.
“Then they had the don of football at the helm, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. To have that much success over such a long period is remarkable and something I continue to aspire to.
