Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Renato Sanches. The journalist also states that what is left is to reach an agreement with Lille.
Earlier in this transfer window, Arsenal were said to be close to signing the Portuguese midfielder. Moreover, early talks have already been held to discuss a potential move to the Premier League on a deal worth €30 million.
The scenario seems to have changed drastically in recent hours. The player’s agent has made contacts with Barcelona, and the club are said to be interested in the young midfielder.
This comes as a surprise, especially given the tight economic situation of the club. Barcelona have just announced the departure of Lionel Messi for financial reasons and now seem interested in a player worth nothing less than €30 million.
However, the Catalans could look to sign the youngster on a loan deal with an option to pay in the future. However, with his stocks amidst the clouds right now, it remains to be seen if the player’s party is open to such a deal.
Sanches was the young player of the tournament in the 2016 Euros and is a highly rated talent. In the recent 2020 Euros, too, the 23-year-old put up some stellar performances in the Portuguese midfield and slowly cemented his spot.
His incorporation at Barcelona will provide a new option in the left midfield. Needless to say, his ball carrying and creative abilities would be put to the ultimate test in the team.
As of now, an agreement is yet to be reached between Barcelona and the Ligue 1’s defending champions. Lille will look to make some money on the deal, which at the moment, Barcelona cannot spare. The negotiations will not be easy, but continue to progress in the right direction
